The Southwell Gardening club was founded in 2005 by a group of mums who met monthly to study a horticultural topic and latterly to work practically in each others garden, stopping half way through the morning to have tea and cake. The club is now affiliated with the RHS has sixty members of all ages and gender. We are a not for profit community group who work together for the love of gardening with the added benefit of gardening together in our local area and by raising funds to improve our community and hone our horticultural skills. We meet socially for moral support and to share ideas and solutions. We meet monthly on the third Tuesday of the month at the W.I Hall, Southwell from 7.30 p.m. for workshops, visits, plant swaps a chat and a glass of wine. See what we are doing on our blog Since its inception members have worked voluntarily in a number of horticultural capacities. Namely The National Trusts ‘Workhouse Project’, The Southwell Care Project, The Flower Pod development, with the local Flood forum and in our local schools. The allotments and the Potwell Dyke Wildflower meadows development. Our monthly Saturday morning geurilla gardening around the town is popular. In 2013 we entered the East Midlands In Bloom competition for the first time and received a silver nomination. We produce a monthly newsletter highlighting jobs for this month and have a discount membership with our local garden centres. Do come along and join us if an event takes your fancy or you just would like a glass of wine and a chat about gardening.
